Alan D. Litz, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2025, just days after celebrating the holidays with his family. Born on December 10, 1958, in Moab, Utah, Alan dedicated himself to both his family and career, leaving behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and cherished memories.
For 38 years, Alan served as a heavy equipment mechanic at Hansen International, a role he truly loved. His reliable nature and supportive demeanor made him a pillar not only in his professional life but also within his family. Alan was the first person anyone turned to in times of need, exemplifying kindness and a protective spirit. He encouraged his family to always strive to be the best version of themselves while maintaining a light-hearted approach to life, often filled with jokes and laughter.
Alan was a dedicated family man who relished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in teaching them essential life skills, from driving and working on cars to the joys of camping, fishing, and playing poker. His playful willingness to let his granddaughters cheat at cards—pretending not to notice—was a testament to the playful bond he shared with them. Alan's greatest accomplishments were undeniably his children, Michael Litz and Kara Holter, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Alysha Franco, Natias Yoder, and Ramachi Hayes.
In addition to his family life, Alan enjoyed sports, particularly baseball and wrestling. He found joy in outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains. His passion for nature was matched only by his enthusiasm for serene activities such as playing poker or solitary games, always relishing moments that allowed him to connect with the great outdoors.
He is survived by his son Michael Litz, daughter Kara Holter (Kevin), granddaughters Alysha Franco and Natias Yoder, grandson Ramachi Hayes, brother Justin Litz, and dear friend Bud. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Litz and Delcena Litz.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alan's life on January 18, 2025, at Snyder Grand Valley Memorials, Inc. in Grand Junction, Colorado, beginning at 11:00 AM. A period of remembrance will continue until 12:00 PM, as loved ones gather to honor the legacy of a man who left an indelible mark on their hearts. Alan D. Litz will be deeply missed, yet his spirit and the lessons he imparted will forever resonate within those he loved.
