It is with deep sorrow that we share this news of the death of our beloved husband and father, David. David was born to Jesse and Elsie McWilliams on January 19, 1941, in Fort Collins, CO. Dave, most commonly called, served in the U.S. Navy after graduation from college at the University of Wyoming with a degree in pharmacy. Upon discharge from the United States Navy, he began a longtime career of practicing pharmacy. This included a variety of cities in Wyoming over the years, with the last few years of his career in Grand Junction.
Having grown up and lived in Wyoming, he had a passion for the outdoors. There could be no end to the fishing, camping, rock hunting, and hiking that allowed him to be outdoors with nature, and he imparted this love to his children. Dave also took comfort in volunteering, in trying to be of support and comfort to those in need. A lover of words, he always found time for a visit to the library, bringing home a fresh bunch of books that he thought should be read, and he wrote poetry throughout his life. Some of his poems have won outstanding awards with VA national contests. It should also be mentioned that David was a great fan of baseball. He played Legion ball as a young student in Casper, WY, and he loved teaching his children and grandchildren about the game.
He and his loving wife, Margaret, shared a marriage of 58 years. In this union, six loving and caring children were born. Maria (Jamie) Hart with grandsons Aaron and Kevin and great grandson, Nolan. Allan (Erin Hilton) with grandson, Walter. Ann (Wayne) Worthington with grandchildren Kendall and David. Scott McWilliams, Heidi (Brian) Riley, Sarah (John) Risi with grandson Joshua. He has been preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Elsie, and two brothers, Don and Dale. Nephews DJ, David, and Ron McWilliams remain living in Denver, and Jeff and Carey McWilliams in Cody, WY.
There is comfort in knowing that the illnesses he tolerated with great determination, are no more. In our hearts we feel that he will be welcomed to his new life in the arms of God.
