Edmundo Mejia, passed away on August 30, 2024 in Grand Junction, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 13, 1959, in Mexico, Edmundo dedicated his life to caring for others and creating lasting memories with those he held dear.
For 15 years, Edmundo worked for the Montrose County School District, where he was known for his diligent work ethic and warm personality. Edmundo’s educational journey began in Mexico, where he attended school and laid the foundation for the values he carried throughout his life.
Edmundo was not only a dedicated worker but also a passionate family man who loved to spend time with his family. He was a proud father and an adoring grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his daughter and grandchildren, who were his greatest accomplishments. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, music, and dance, reflecting the joy he shared with his loved ones.
He was known affectionately as “Mundo,” and his cheerful spirit brought light to those fortunate enough to know him. Edmundo enjoyed singing and dancing, often captivating his family with his expressive personality and witty sense of humor. His compassionate nature and generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who encountered him, particularly his many nieces and nephews, who considered him a favorite uncle.
In addition to the joys of family life, Edmundo had a passion for the great outdoors, often fishing and camping, where he found solace in nature and the beauty surrounding him.
Edmundo is survived by his daughter Sheila (Antonio), his love Agnelia (Joanne), grand daughters Jazlyn, Quinn and Nyah, sisters Elena, Silvina (Alejandro) and Sofia Pacheco, brothers Rogelio (Diane), Felix (Michelle), Rosendo (Maria), Justino, Jose (Maria) Pacheco, many nieces, nephews and friends who love him.
Edmundo is preceded in death by his mother, Sheila, and his father, Braulio. He leaves behind a rich legacy celebrated in the memories of his loved ones.
A Mass to honor Edmundo will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary, located at 790 26 1/2 Road in Grand Junction, CO. The vigil will be held on September 5, 2024, at 5:00 PM, followed by a Mass on September 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
