Lorraine Cook, beloved saved child of God, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was nearly 94. She was born in Northern Oklahoma in the city of Enid on June 8, 1931. She was the oldest of five children, having one brother and three sisters. She was raised on a wheat farm near Enid and graduated from Garber High School in 1949. She then went to Enid Business School. After graduation, she became an executive secretary at George E. Failing Company in Enid, Oklahoma, where she met her future husband Calvin Cook.
Calvin and Lorraine were married in 1954, and moved from Oklahoma to Grand Junction, Colorado a few weeks after getting married. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her children, spending many hours gardening, canning and trying to keep three strong willed boys out of trouble. With the arrival of grand-children, she would keep them busy and take them on what she called “adventures.”
She was very active in church and worked with children and youth at First Southern Baptist, Bookcliff Baptist and Monument Baptist churches. She was most recently an active member of Emmanuel Baptist church and taught a weekly woman’s Bible study for many years.

The oldest Terry has been married to Candace for 46 years. They have lived in Rancho Cucamonga, California for 35 years and will be moving back to Grand Junction in the next few months. Terry and Candy have three children – Jonathan, Jesse and Kaitlyn. Jonathan lives in Farmington, Minnesota and has a son Aiden, with identical twin boys due in two months. Jesse has a daughter Avery and they live in Portland, Oregon. Kaitlyn is married to Dan Oliva Theveny and they have a son Ashton. Kaitlyn and her family also live in Farmington, Minnesota.
Duane is Lorraine’s second son and he has been married to Kim for 45 years. They have lived in Grand Junction their entire lives. Duane and Kim have two girls - Amanda and Deidra. Amanda lives here in Grand Junction. Deidra is married to Cory Turley and they live in Norman, Oklahoma. Deidra and Cory have three children – Callen and red-headed twins Nora and Axel.
Stacy is Lorraine’s third son and he has been married to Galina for 15 years. They currently live in Austin, Texas and they have one daughter – Anna. Anna lives in Quebec City, Quebec.
In addition to her children, Lorraine is also survived by her two sisters, Elaine Bonine and Anita Lavicky, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Thursday, April 17, 2025, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Any contributions in memory of Lorraine can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church at 395 31 - 5/8 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81504. All contributions will be donated to the Gideon's Int. and The Voice of Martyrs.
