Michael Brian Adcock

August 21, 1963 — December 7, 2024

Michael Brian Adcock, fondly known as Mike, was a beacon of joy and kindness whose legacy will shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Born on August 21,1963, in Denver, Colorado, Mike embraced life with an infectious smile and an unwavering spirit that inspired everyone around him.

Mike moved to Grand Junction with his parents and siblings in 1980 and after graduating from Central High School a year later he learned many new skills but became a master student of the concrete trade. In 1994, he founded Adcock Concrete, Inc. launching his business with his brother as his first employee. Over the years, he grew his company to employ over 30 people, significantly impacting many lives while also sponsoring families from Mexico. His dedication and contributions to the Grand Junction Downtown Area earned Adcock Concrete multiple awards and recognition from the community.

An industrious entrepreneur, Mike was not just a man of concrete; he was also an advocate of fitness. A co-owner of CrossFit Junction he poured his heart into fitness, blending competition with a playful sense of challenge. His love for fitness was complimented by a myriad of outdoor adventures, including hiking, cycling, and snowboarding. More than anything else however, his true passion was riding dirt bikes and had been since he was a child. He was known for his playful and competitive spirit, often finding challenges that spurred excitement and camaraderie amongst friends and family.

Mike, when asked what his greatest accomplishment in life was, decidedly would say that his family was it. He was a devoted husband to wife, Irma, and a proud father to his children, Kyle (Alyssa), Amri (Devin), and Kody (Becky). His grandchildren – Indica, Kytan, Ayla, Rivers and Everett – were a source of profound joy for him. The recent arrival of his newest grandson, Everett, marked one of his greatest accomplishments.

An artist at heart, Mike taught himself to play the piano, bringing music into the family home. His creativity extended beyond music; he had a deep appreciation for buildings, history, and architecture, always striving to preserve the stories they held.

He had a deep bond with his siblings, Julie Bullock, Robin Adcock, and Jodi Koning, who will undoubtedly keep his joyful spirit alive in their hearts. His late-night philosophical chats with his sister and daughter about life, family, and business will be cherished memories for many years to come. Not to be forgotten are his furry companions, Koko and Sugar, who would wag their tails in excitement whenever he entered the room. Mike never met a dog who wasn’t a friend to him.

Mike’s personality was a vibrant blend of generosity, kindness, humility and an infectious sense of humor. He had a rare talent for helping others reach their highest potential without ever being judgmental. He expected excellence, but at the same time, never made anyone feel guilty if they didn’t meet those expectations. He made everyone around him better. He always found the joy in every moment and embraced opportunities for laughter and adventure, never shying away from a challenge.

Though Mike departed this world on December 7, 2024, his legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and generosity will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family, friends and employees. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Adcock.

Let us celebrate the joy that Mike brought into our lives and honor his memory by sharing in the kindness he so effortlessly radiated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 ½ Road, Grand Junction, Colorado.
