Michael Melgares passed away on August 12, 2023 at his home, he was 76.
Michael was born on June 15, 1947 in Alamosa, Colorado from the union of Julian and Lourdes Melgares. He married Tamara L. Melgares on December 14, 1984 in Grand Junction, Colorado: She survives.
Michael, known as Manch to some and Boss or Mel-Chapo to others, he was a hardworking entrepreneur, most notably in the painting and wall-covering business. He was also an Army Veteran, a Jerry Garcia doppelganger, an artist and an avid hot rod builder. Envy him no more for his luxurious hair and epic beard growing skills. His ornery laugh still echoes and all who knew him, know that he was one heck of a good time!
Michael leaves behind three daughters; Phaedra Melgares of Denver, CO, Michelle Melgares of Fruita, CO and Kimberly (Jason) Larson of Clifton, CO. Other survivors include a stepson; Danny (Janeen) Cihlar of Grand Junction, CO, brother; Robert (Bonnie) Melgares of Clifton, CO and a sister; Patricia (Carl) Atencio of Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, JoAnn Melgares. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to HopeWest Hospice for their care during his final days.
