Nathaniel Joel Purcell

June 11, 1982 — December 22, 2024

Grand Junction

Nate Purcell, 42, of Grand Junction Colorado passed away December 22, 2024. He was born June 11, 1982 to Russell and Lynn Purcell in Salida, Colorado. He graduated from Darren Patterson Christian School in 2000. After a few years of working at Silver Cliff Ranch in Nathrop, Colorado, he moved to Grand Junction where he worked at Target for 18 years. His co-workers had great respect and love for Nate and said they never heard him say anything negative about anyone or anything.

Nate loved all kinds of sports, the main ones being football and hockey. His favorite teams were the Avalanche, the Broncos and the Colorado Buffalos. He was recently able to go to an Avalanche game in Denver, which was a great highlight in his life.

Nate was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about two years ago. Through all of his chemo, radiation and surgery, he never complained or became depressed about his situation. He determined at the onset of his diagnosis to have a positive attitude which he attributed to his relationship with Jesus Christ.

Nate is survived by his parents, sister Stephanie (Tony) of Gilbert, AZ; brother Sean (Lacey) of Phoenix, AZ; sister Nicole (Dave) of York, UK; and brother Devann (Britt) of Austin, TX; nieces Eleanor, Faith, Jill, Sunny, Savannah, and Kiara ; nephews Emilio, Declan, and Kyle.
