Raymond Cleve Davis, known as Ray, was born on August 25th, 1944, in Grand Junction, CO. He spent many years in the Roaring Fork Valley as a general contractor and was the proud owner of Elk Creek Construction. Ray was a hard worker and mentored many people over the years.
Throughout life, Ray exemplified qualities of kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity. His personality shone brightly as he cherished moments spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Known for his quick wit and readiness to bring smiles through his teasing, Ray's presence brought joy to all those around him. His willingness to offer a helping hand to anyone in need left a lasting impression on the lives he touched.
Ray's interests were varied. He found solace and exhilaration in the great outdoors - whether it was racing snowmobiles, hunting amidst nature's beauty, or casting his line while fishing, especially at Lake Powell. Ray enjoyed baking, fish fries and and making his homemade tortilla chips. His "famous" cinnamon rolls and bread were not only delicious but also symbolic of the love he poured into everything he did.
On May 17th, 2024, Ray peacefully passed away at his home in Grand Junction. His wife Mary Ellen and daughter Raelyn were by his side. While Ray's physical presence may have departed, the memories of his enduring spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Ray is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen; his loving daughter Raelyn (Mike); brothers Mahlon and Wesley; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Although son Stephen and nephew Douglas preceded him in death, their memories remain intertwined with the legacy Ray leaves behind.
In honoring the life of Ray, we celebrate a man who embodied a strong work ethic, kindness, humor, and a deep-seated love for both family and friends. His impact reverberates through the lives he touched and will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May you rest in peace, dear Ray. Your light will forever illuminate our hearts.
